Prerequisites: Anthony D Anthony Dom is a Brooklyn-born session guitarist and jazz band leader who recently graduated from SUNY Purchase College’s Jazz Program at the Conservatory of Music, where he honed his craft and emerged as a standout talent in the world of straight ahead jazz and bebop. Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor Pasquale Grasso, and other masters such as Jon Faddis and Eric Alexander, Anthony developed a soulful and captivating musical voice. As a session musician, Anthony plays with several bands and artists around the Tri-State area, with a diverse range of genres from punk rock and funk to indie and hip hop. He has performed at NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Piano's and Merkin Concert hall, to name a few. As a young musician, Anthony studied the piano privately and specialized in classical violin from an early age. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. While starting as self-taught on the guitar through high-school, Anthony was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a Guitar Performance major and later transferred to Purchase College to major in Jazz Studies with a minor in Studio Production and Audio Engineering. In his free time from class, Anthony began to teach music in late 2021 with private lessons on guitar and piano. Currently, Anthony maintains a busy gigging schedule with year round lessons in both NYC and Upstate NY. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor Pasquale Grasso, and other masters such as Jon Faddis and Eric Alexander, Anthony developed a soulful and captivating musical voice. As a session musician, Anthony plays with several bands and artists around the Tri-State area, with a diverse range of genres from punk rock and funk to indie and hip hop. He has performed at NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Piano's and Merkin Concert hall, to name a few. As a young musician, Anthony studied the piano privately and specialized in classical violin from an early age. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. While starting as self-taught on the guitar through high-school, Anthony was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a Guitar Performance major and later transferred to Purchase College to major in Jazz Studies with a minor in Studio Production and Audio Engineering. In his free time from class, Anthony began to teach music in late 2021 with private lessons on guitar and piano. Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor Pasquale Grasso, and other masters such as Jon Faddis and Eric Alexander, Anthony developed a soulful and captivating musical voice. As a session musician, Anthony plays with several bands and artists around the Tri-State area, with a diverse range of genres from punk rock and funk to indie and hip hop. He has performed at NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Piano's and Merkin Concert hall, to name a few. As a young musician, Anthony studied the piano privately and specialized in classical violin from an early age. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. While starting as self-taught on the guitar through high-school, Anthony was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a Guitar Performance major and later transferred to Purchase College to major in Jazz Studies with a minor in Studio Production and Audio Engineering. In his free time from class, Anthony began to teach music in late 2021 with private lessons on guitar and piano. Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor Pasquale Grasso, and other masters such as Jon Faddis and Eric Alexander, Anthony developed a soulful and captivating musical voice. As a session musician, Anthony plays with several bands and artists around the Tri-State area, with a diverse range of genres from punk rock and funk to indie and hip hop. He has performed at NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Piano's and Merkin Concert hall, to name a few. As a young musician, Anthony studied the piano privately and specialized in classical violin from an early age. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. While starting as self-taught on the guitar through high-school, Anthony was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a Guitar Performance major and later transferred to Purchase College to major in Jazz Studies with a minor in Studio Production and Audio Engineering. In his free time from class, Anthony began to teach music in late 2021 with private lessons on guitar and piano. Prerequisites: Anthony D Anthony Dom is a Brooklyn-born session guitarist and jazz band leader who recently graduated from SUNY Purchase College’s Jazz Program at the Conservatory of Music, where he honed his craft and emerged as a standout talent in the world of straight ahead jazz and bebop. Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor Pasquale Grasso, and other masters such as Jon Faddis and Eric Alexander, Anthony developed a soulful and captivating musical voice. As a session musician, Anthony plays with several bands and artists around the Tri-State area, with a diverse range of genres from punk rock and funk to indie and hip hop. He has performed at NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Piano's and Merkin Concert hall, to name a few. As a young musician, Anthony studied the piano privately and specialized in classical violin from an early age. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. While starting as self-taught on the guitar through high-school, Anthony was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a Guitar Performance major and later transferred to Purchase College to major in Jazz Studies with a minor in Studio Production and Audio Engineering. In his free time from class, Anthony began to teach music in late 2021 with private lessons on guitar and piano. Currently, Anthony maintains a busy gigging schedule with year round lessons in both NYC and Upstate NY. As a session musician, Anthony plays with several bands and artists around the Tri-State area, with a diverse range of genres from punk rock and funk to indie and hip hop. He has performed at NYC venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, Piano's and Merkin Concert hall, to name a few. As a young musician, Anthony studied the piano privately and specialized in classical violin from an early age. He attended Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School where he studied classical violin in a chamber and orchestral setting, music theory and general musicianship. While starting as self-taught on the guitar through high-school, Anthony was accepted to Berklee College of Music as a Guitar Performance major and later transferred to Purchase College to major in Jazz Studies with a minor in Studio Production and Audio Engineering. In addition to a Master of Music from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, Tim has over eight years of diverse teaching experience in guitar, bass, and piano. Tim is passionate about making music education enjoyable while instilling a strong foundation in his students. He has worked with students ages 4-80 and strives to tailor his teaching approach to each student’s goals and learning styles. He has prepared students for recitals and juries as well as auditions for USC and UCLA. Known for his versatile style, he seamlessly navigates between jazz, pop, and R&B genres, making him a sought-after musician in the industry. Tim’s exceptional bass playing has allowed him to perform at prestigious venues such as the historic Catalina’s Jazz Club and Capitol Records in LA. His compositions, which blend traditional jazz elements with contemporary influences, have earned him recognition as a finalist in the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award. Tim has played with esteemed artists including Peter Erskine and Eddie Henderson, as well as various pop and R&B musicians. Most students graduate from this class after 6-8 sessions. But faster or slower is OK! To be confident about what class level is right for you, try playing along with the class graduation videos. If you can play along with the previous graduation video but not with the graduation video for this class, then you're in the right place! Before your first class, try playing along with the the warm-up video which you will do in every class--there are 9 warm-ups, so be sure to select the correct level. Don't worry about fully understanding or mastering everything, just get used to it. (BTW to maximize your progress, use this video as a warm-up everytime you practice at home, too!) He picked up the guitar at age nine, eventually earning a master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance. A specialist in fingerstyle guitar, Premtim combines the finesse of classical technique with the raw power of rock. He has performed both as a solo classical guitarist and as a member of various rock bands, seamlessly transitioning between acoustic and electric guitar. His musicianship has earned him recognition in guitar competitions, and he has also served as a jury member at international guitar festivals. With over a decade of teaching experience, Premtim loves working with students of all ages and skill levels. This course will cover everything from riffs and power chords to improvisation and blistering leads. We'll break down all aspects of the recording process including multi-tracked guitars, effects, and achieving a slammin' rock mix. All material will then be recorded and mixed by the ensemble! Prerequisites: Open chords, barre chords, 8th and 16th note strumming, minor pentatonic scale. Note: This class involves a lot of recording using an online recording program. **Note: Classes with low enrollment will be cancelled two days in advance. Be sure to sign up for your favorite classes before then to reserve your spot!** Michelangelo An expert in all things rock, Michelangelo brings over 15 years of teaching experience to the Brooklyn Guitar School. A childhood learning the music of rock greats such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Guns N’ Roses brought him to Berklee College of Music, where he received his BM in Guitar Performance. He loves teaching all styles and levels, specializing in classic rock, pop, heavy metal, and lead guitar.
